This is the Best Costume for the Day

Black Turban - eBay
70s Black Dress - Vintage
Silver Belt - Vintage
Jewellery - Vintage
Shoes - Rubi

As I was editing these photos the line ' this is the best costume for the day' came into my head and I was reminded about a scene from one of my favourite movies ( and the separate documentary ) Grey Gardens. ( I think it was the turban!)

When I first saw the movie I had to find the documentary straight away as I was completely fascinated by the Beales. Despite their house is in disarray around them Edie doesn't lose her love for fashion!

Coming Back To Life

Top - Reiss Emporium
Batik Skirt - Vintage
Platform Shoes - Rubi

"Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life

I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight... into the shining sun"

I was playing Pink Floyd as I was editing these photos and this song came on and I just had to play it as loud as I could. I could feel it go straight through my body and I just sat there for a minute taking it all in. It resonated with me and I thought it also went well with these photos as we took them in a community garden. It was raining lightly and all the plants were so lush and green and bursting with life with vegetables of all types and colours.

Dark Side of the Moon

Pink Floyd Tshirt - Vintage
Moroccan People Print Culottes - Vintage
Shoes - Big W
Jewellery & Belt - Vintage & Thrifted

Okay so there is a few fun things about this outfit.

1. This isn't a skirt these are culottes! Yes you may have seen the infamous youtube 'pantsuit' video where the girl says about her lovely dress and then says 'but wait, it's a pantsuit!'. If not then check it out and you will see exactly how these wonderful pants operate by being sneaky and tricking us into thinking it is a skirt.
2. It has a super colourful print that at first looks like it is a patchwork of aztec and moroccan prints but if you look carefully there is people on the fabric! The print is reminiscent of a market in Morocco with the sellers in front of their rugs and tapestries for sale.
3. I stole my mans vintage Pink Floyd tshirt because well, why not. I have a thing for vintage band shirts and I think I wear it more than he does anyway. It's nice and worn in and faded just the way I like it.
4. By pure coincidence it means another moon theme title haha!

Marmilade

 Top - Reiss Emporium
Shoes - Rubi

I needed some bright and fun goodness on this cloudy overcast day so I threw on my colourful skirt from Marmilade with my off the shoulder lace top and went for a stroll looking for a wall to compliment the skirt. Was great to find this lilac wall even if it meant people going past walking their dogs and being amused at this crazy girl haha!

Love the clothing from this brand because not only are they local to the Sunshine Coast they are all all individually handmade here by Nicole using gorgeous laces, embroidery and trims. Colour always makes me feel happy and how can you not smile looking at these wonderful creations? I was stoked to find this mini skirt in vibrant colours of pinks, blues and greens :)

Sister of the Moon

  Felt Hat - Kooringal
Dress - Free People
Boots - Windsor Smith
Jewellery - Sportsgirl

The recent full moon had me thinking about positive changes I wanted to make in my life.  One was to be my own best friend and start looking after myself better. I've been having a lot of fun the last year but I became aware recently that I was starting to neglect my own self care and not give myself and my body the love and attention it deserves. So I hope that you may notice some positive changes in me in the months to come as I embrace these changes.

I'm glad I have had a bit of a wake up call as I want to have energy and life to continue to get out there and see all the beautiful things this world has to offer!

Style Muse - Veruschka

Veruschka von Lehndorff was a popular model in the 60s and I admire alot of her bohemian style shoots, many of them look like they are from a modern Vogue magazine issue.

Verushcka ( born as Vera but gave herself a new name for modelling when her old name just wasn't working for her!) had ambitions to be an artist but quickly became popular in the modelling world due to her belief in ensuring once a photographer had captured her image they would not forget her.

In 1967 she was one of the highest paid models in the world but she decided to quit after being pressured to change her image to be more like other models. This led her to then go back to her artistic roots and collaborated with Holger Trülzsch a painter and sculptor who utilised body paint for stunning images that were published in a book.

As an interesting side note Verushckas father had been arrested and hanged for plotting to kill Hitler during World War II. Hitlers bunker was in the grounds of the family home.
