"In a society that profits from your self doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act' - unknown

When I was editing these photos I have to admit I was thinking ' man I wish I was a bit taller' haha. Sometimes I feel like a bit of a shrimp here in the blogging world with all these beautiful tall and slim fashion bloggers.  I guess we are so used to seeing the same body types over and over in the media so when someone doesn't fit that mould it seems strange to us. I'm happy to see more and more we are seeing more diversity in body shapes in models, bloggers and even actresses and I think we are just in the beginning of seeing this even more which is awesome!

Harvest Moon

Shawl - Vintage
Dress - Sportsgirl ( Thrifted)
Henna - Divine Henna Designs
Wicker Bag - Vintage
Maori Sandal - Tread Light Gear

I fell in love with this old abandoned building on this country property, with its old horse drawn wagon behind me in the photos. The caretaker let us explore while he watched from his verandah having a smoke.

My new sandals I was so thrilled to get in the mail from Tread Light Gear, a wonderful business based in the USA. Not only are they beautiful shoes but they are made with being eco - positive in mind. Manna hand makes each pair of shoes using leather that is discarded from food production (rather than from animals that have been raised primarily for leather). They are made so they will mould to your feet the more you wear them and have a Vibram sole so there is many years of life in them. You can get them resoled after a few years to keep their life even longer. Plus they don't use any toxic glues in the the production of them. A lot of thought and love goes into these shoes! For these photos I wore them with the laces going all the way up but they look great tied up around the ankles too :)

Nothing But ( Flowers )

Purple Velvet Dress  - Vintage / Thrifted
Heart Glasses - eBay
Henna - Divine Henna Designs
Black Boots - RM Williams

'There was a factory, now there are mountains and rivers'

I found this peach tree quite a beautiful contrast against the dry earth, rust and timber. The caretaker of the property said it hadn't fruited in years and the fact it had not rained in a long time probably had something to do with it. But it is still surviving and sticking it out with bees buzzing around my head as we took photos.

I love my vintage and I usually get excited when I find someone vintage + velvet. Great combination if you ask me. And this dress is such a sweet colour with the bonus of an embroidered bow on it just for a bit of a bling haha. Its actually longer on me but I hike it up a bit - got to show a bit of leg especially at my height! Something about velvet makes everyone want to touch it (stroke the furry wall ...)

If you have been reading my blog you may have noticed that it is the small things that make me happy. One of those things is driving out to the middle of 'woop woop' and finding little gems like this ramshackle shack. We were road tripping and found it on a property way out west in Queensland. As we pulled up a man who was watching us from his verandah up on the hill, drove down to have a yarn with us and to tell us that we were free to photograph around the property as he is the caretaker. I love talking to different people and I loved that he was excited to see someone visit! Every now and then as we were taking photos he would yell something funny out from his verandah. We were there for many hours so he must have wondered what we found so fascinating about the place but all the rust and rotting wood is beautiful to me. So much history! This little shack was so tiny and still had a tiny little water tank attached. Inside it looked like it was now used a storage shed but to think that it was once someones home amazes me as our homes these days are so big.

Sunshine On A Rainy Day

Stardust Crochet Knit Kimono in Black - Bijou the Label
Little Amored One Tank - Axis Moon
Blue Moon Navy Velvet Shorts - Ra Ra Superstar
Cowgirl Boots - Ariat

Such a smorgasbord of wonderful labels in this post!  We were in Paddington in Brissie and thought we would have a quick peak at the skatepark there with some awesome street art.  It wasn't the best weather and we didn't get as much of a chance to look around as we would have liked. But I am happy we got to have a quick look.

Anyway, how do you like the henna adorning my leg this time? Nicki keeps outdoing herself! I suggested that maybe we could do my thigh/leg this time and then she let her creativity fly starting this amazing mandala.  Unfortunately I added my own bit of 'colour' with a big bruise in the middle of it haha. I was at a party / jam session on the weekend and I was a little too enthusiastic with playing the tambourine for about 4 hours. Being right handed the other leg is the one covered in bruises from bashing it into my leg, and I woke up with my hand completely swollen and bruised. Who would have thought that playing the tambourine could be so hardcore and rock and roll haha!

Three Little Birds

Dashiki Dress - Vintage
Tribal Pants - Bohemian Seed
Shoes - Rubi

Driving further and further out west into the country we find these painted sheds with outback scenes on them. There is absolutely no-one around, it's like a ghost town, we haven't passed any cars in forever and so I start to get undressed next to the car to put this outfit on. I 'm standing there in my 'smalls' when a car suddenly comes out of no where and decides to park directly opposite where I am standing to have a good look as I frantically try to hide. Lesson learnt, don't think you are safe  to undress when you think no-one is around! There was also an outback dunny that I regretfully forgot to take a photo of as it had a skeleton sitting on the toilet reading a paper painted on it. Quite amusing indeed. Love these quirky murals you find in these towns.

This vintage dashiki dress was tight and fitted all the way down the front but I undid it at the front seam to go up to the navel, so it is more like a top now. Will probably sew it back together in the near future for a different look :)

Road to Nowhere

Indigo Tie Dye Dress - Wildflower Dyes
Leather Belt - Vintage
White Kimono - Billions Trillions
Henna - Divine Henna Designs
Cowboy Boots - Vintage

Sometimes taking a wrong turn is the right decision! We did and came across this little railway line complete with a sign that said they had cups of wine for $2. Well, there was no wine but it sure made me think that it would have been an interesting train trip coming from this station!

Loving this tie dye dress, indigo blue is always a favourite of mine and I love that these are all hand dyed by Valerie. You can wear it loose and it is a tent style that flares out but I chose to wear it with one of my vintage belts this day.
