This house is full of mystery, if you look in the window there is still furniture inside but as far as I know no one has lived there in years. There was even an old photograph poster of a nude lady on the wall inside. The front door has a padlock on it and the garden is overgrown. The boards on the front patio are loose and were creaking as I walked on them.

I had a vintage belt with conchos on it so I put it around the hat as a hat band just for a bit of extra 'somethin' somethin'. The fringed vest was originally a jacket and the sleeves were cut off.

Imagine if when I was editing these photos if I saw face looking out the window? Ooh, spooky!

This railway bridge out in the country was built in the early 1900's and hasn't been used in many years.  We had to go through thick scrub and weeds on the railway line to reach it.  The view was beautiful however it was a long way down with nothing to stop you from falling and lots of big gaps. I decided to sit on small square on the side with huge gaps either side of me which made my heart beat even faster. I'm all for conquering my fears and like most people heights don't sit entirely well for me but it was a nice little adrenaline rush.

Sometimes I get crazy ideas in my head and I can't stop thinking about it until I do it. Well, taking photos at this abandoned shack was one of them and the other one was doing a shoot complete with eye decoration inspired by a vintage photo from the late 60s of the girl in the photo below.  Some sites say this photo was taken at Woodstock, some say it was from a Rolling Stones concert in Hyde Park in the late 60s. Either way I have been in love with this image for many years having kept it in my stash of inspirational photos. So I did my own version. FYI I used black stick on diamontes from the $2 shop. Sticking those things around your eyes does feels weird and I don't recommend it as it wouldn't be pleasant to get them into your eyeball but I did have fun creating the look ;) I think the girl in the photo is using sequins and eyeliner.

I look at this photo below and wonder what happened to her? How old would she be now? Is she a mother, a grandmother? What does she think of the world today and is it how she thought it would be?

We got to the shack as the sun was coming up, I was very derelict with broken glass and the ceiling caving in. A surprise to find the graffiti in this tiny cottage and I named this blog post after it. I agree with the sentiment. Just like the girl in the photo I wondered who used to live here and what happened to them?

They Long to Be ( Close To You )

Floppy Hat - eBay
Cloud and Bird Print Dress - 70's Vintage
Shoes: Rubi

"Why do birds suddenly appear, ev'ry time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be close to you.
Why do stars fall down from the sky, ev'ry time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be close to you."
The Carpenters

I remember when I was a child and I was staying over at my best friends house and a documentary on The Carpenters came on. We watched it not knowing anything about these performers but I was impressed that Karen Carpenter was a talented drummer as well as a singer but sang the lyrics from behind the drum kit first. Eventually it was suggested she come from behind the drum kit and stand out the front singing so people could see her.  She also played bass guitar.  Karen always considered herself a 'drummer who could sing' which is interesting considering she is most known for her beautiful voice. This groovy dress is from the 70s and made me think it is perhaps something she would wear on a performance on tv. It has a very groovy print of blue sky, clouds and white birds.
